Borobudur’s design was conceived by the poet, thinker and architect Gunadharma, considered by many today as a man of great vision and devotion. The temple has been described in several ways. Its basic structure resembles that of a pyramid, but it has also been called caitya, stupa and a sacred mountain. Romanized Barabudur is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in the Magelang regency, not far from the city of Muntilan, in the center of Java, Indonesia. Located on the island of Java in Indonesia, the leaders of the Sailendra dynasty built the Borobudur temple around 800 AD as a monument to the Buddha.
The roads have been omnipresent in human civilization. We all know the streets, trails and lanes we travel regularly. Ancient Roman roads are used in some places even today. The temple fell into disuse about a hundred years after its completion when, for reasons still unknown, the leaders of Java moved the government center to another part of the island. The temple consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, crowned by a central dome.
It is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 statues of Buddha, each sitting inside a pierced. In contemporary IT culture, we follow “paths” on web pages as we find our way to the information or experience that we unexpectedly seek or find. There are simulated routes in complex virtual reality video environments in first person, where role-playing games formulate their content around the route to conquer. The idea of the road is an important concept in Buddhism, and it is essential to understand the meaning and purpose of one of the most remarkable and impressive monuments in the world.
The stone carvings attached to the temple exhibit legends and stories that have great philosophical significance. For visitors with children, do not miss the huge area of green grass that surrounds the Borobudur site. You can choose to walk through Green Park from the entrance. Many vendors will offer you souvenirs and other goodies while walking through this area, however, there are regulations to avoid disturbing visitors.
